ACCO Bulk Liquid Chlorine vs. Tablets

Liquid Chlorine Tablets
Initial Investment No capital investment with ACCO agreement. Cost of erosion feeder.
Price Liquid chlorine is the most economical option available. Tablets are expensive compared to widely used liquid chlorine.
Labor and Time Constant, hands free supply of chemical. Tablets may have to be fed daily into erosion feeder.

Feeders must be cleaned weekly.

Discharge lines have to be cleaned of calcium to prevent plugging.
Safety No dangerous fumes or handling of drums or carboys.

Chemicals in bulk tanks require no handling.
Respirator masks should be worn to protect against fumes.

Tablet fumes are corrosive to equipment.

Calcium hypochlorite is an oxidizer that can cause fire or explosions.

The Facts About Liquid Chlorine

Can I achieve the same water quality with liquid that I get with tablets?
There is no difference in water quality obtained from gas, liquid or dry product. It is the same elemental chlorine, only administered differently. Pristine water quality is achieved by proper pool chemistry and correct filter operation.

Does liquid provide the calcium protection that tablets provide?
Most water in our region is already hard enough for adequate protection. In fact, excess calcium can cause scaling, which can be damaging to your pool’s systems. In cases where water hardness is too low, it is best to adjust calcium hardness with a separate product.

Does liquid chlorine loose strength over time?
Liquid chlorine will loose strength over time, but it takes 7 months to go to ½ strength under “average conditions”. ACCO chemical tanks generally preserve chlorine in above average conditions.
